The People
Ian & Anke Benson bring together and combine a variety of skills that are both human and horse related and then use these skills together in a very unique way to help both humans and horses come together in more harmony with each other.
Ian and Anke have, over the years, worked tirelessly to open a new door in the way of being with horses. Opening people's eyes to the fact that horses are extremely good coaches/teachers, of relationship building both with themselves and other people, of business leadership and development and of the skills of living life in general . The shift in paradigm is so great that the work that began slowly is now gathering momentum to where the ability of Ian & Anke to reach everyone that is interested in this new way is becoming very difficult.
In order for them to reach more people a plan has been developed to spread some of the responsibilities in the running of this business. Doing this will enable both Ian & Anke to dedicate more time to effectively reach more people. For Ian, the ongoing programme of writing, or more correctly, finishing the books that have been so long in production. For Anke, to launch the branch of the business to add a more therapeutic flavour to the line up of things that we can offer here.
The plan involves finding some like minded people, bringing their resources, talents, skills and ideas with them, to get involved with the North River property so as release time and capital for further developments at North River.
We are turning the property and what happens here into a social enterprise with an emphasis on helping to develop the human potential with the use of horses and a natural environment combined with the skills and talents of the people involved.
The whole venture is motivated with the idea that combined social and environment profitability is more important than a single minded financial profitability venture. Social, environmental and financial profit are all equally important for a truely balanced and sustainable enterprise to be successful.
- The skills Ian brings forward is his ability to connect with horses and the land, with over 30 years of farming background and nearly 25 years of horse/human interaction experiences, and with these skills he helps to bring people back into connection with horses and to nature.
- Anke's six years training in psychotherapy and therapy along with her passion for horses and nature compliments the work, offering a different view point on the interactions she sees and relating this back to the people.
- When Ian & Anke are working together it is often difficult to tell who has what training. They see themselves as learning facilitators for both humans and horses.
